Hypnosis itself
There are many fears and myths surrounding the use of hypnosis. There is absolutely no question of being controlled or manipulated, or even induced into a deep trance state. A person in hypnosis is not 'asleep', indeed they are often more aware of what is taking place than normal. Nobody can be made to do anything against their will, and anybody (with a very few exceptions) can enter this deeply relaxed state.
What then is hypnosis? Well, it’s the Alpha state. A state of deep relaxation, a state of heightened awareness and calm relaxation. It occurs when the conscious and subconscious mind fuse together and is very similar to that first moment of waking, that is, aware of what is happening around you, but just not wanting to be bothered to do anything.
Some Questions and Answers
What is Hypnosis? It is a state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened awareness.
Could I be made to something against my nature or will? No! The mind will only absorb suggestions and ideas that are beneficial. It’s probably true to say that you have even more control in the state of hypnosis. Hypnotherapy differs hugely from the art of stage hypnosis. Will I be aware of what is happening around me? Yes. It’s a state of relaxation, yet intense concentration, you will actually be more aware of your environment than usual.
